About HazzanSolutions

In 2021, at a moment when tradition and technology seemed to be drifting further apart, two visionaries—Hazzan Daniel Eli Friedman and Asher Handaly—set out to close the gap. What began as a shared frustration with outdated tools and fragmented workflows in synagogue life quickly evolved into a bold, unified vision: to reimagine how Torah is learned, taught, organized, and lived in the digital age. From that vision, HazzanSolutions was born.

The early days of HazzanSolutions were fueled by late-night conversations, whiteboard sketches, and a relentless belief that sacred tradition deserved equally inspired technology. Both founders brought complementary strengths—Friedman, a master of liturgy, pedagogy, and musical expression; Handaly, a systems thinker with an eye for scalable, elegant design. Together, they asked a simple but transformative question: What if every aspect of Torah engagement—from chanting to coordination—could exist within one seamless ecosystem?

The first answer to that question was TropeTrainer™, a web-based platform designed to revolutionize how Torah cantillation is learned. Unlike legacy tools, TropeTrainer was built from the ground up for accessibility, flexibility, and depth. It empowered students of all ages—whether preparing for a B’nai Mitzvah or refining lifelong skills—to engage with Torah text through interactive audio, customizable settings, and multiple traditions. But beyond its technical features, TropeTrainer embodied something deeper: a pedagogy rooted in joy, musicality, and personal connection to sacred text.

As TropeTrainer gained traction, it revealed a broader challenge. Clergy and lay leaders were still juggling spreadsheets, emails, and manual systems to coordinate services. Scheduling Torah readers, assigning honors, organizing gabbaim—these essential tasks were time-consuming and often chaotic. In response, HazzanSolutions developed iLeyn, a dynamic service coordination platform that brought order and clarity to the bima.

iLeyn transformed what had long been a logistical burden into an elegant, automated experience. With intelligent scheduling tools, integrated calendars, and customizable Bima Notes, it enabled synagogues to coordinate chanting, davening, honors, and participation with unprecedented efficiency. What once took hours could now be accomplished in moments—freeing clergy to focus on what truly mattered: spiritual leadership, teaching, and community connection.

But the founders didn’t stop there. They recognized that the B’nai Mitzvah journey itself—one of the most meaningful milestones in Jewish life—was often fragmented across multiple platforms, emails, and conversations. Families needed guidance. Students needed structure. Educators needed visibility. Drawing inspiration from existing tools like MitzvahTools, but envisioning something far more integrated, HazzanSolutions created Mitzvah Manager.

Mitzvah Manager became the connective tissue of the entire lifecycle. It functioned as a comprehensive, CRM-style platform for B’nai Mitzvah programs—bringing together student progress, parental involvement, tutor communication, scheduling, and resources into one unified portal. Students could access their aliyot, recordings, and assignments. Parents could track milestones and deadlines. Clergy and administrators could oversee the entire process with clarity and ease.

Together, TropeTrainer, iLeyn, and MitzvahManager formed a cohesive ecosystem—a HazzanHub, each product powerful on its own, but transformative when integrated. What emerged was not just a suite of tools, but a new paradigm: one where technology elevates tradition, reduces friction, and deepens engagement.

At its core, HazzanSolutions was never just about software. It was about reclaiming time, restoring meaning, and empowering communities to experience Torah in a way that is forward-thinking, innovative, imaginative, and deeply human. From its founding in 2021, it has stood as a testament to what happens when sacred purpose meets creative vision—and when those who love Torah most are given the tools to bring it to life in entirely new ways.
